Mary Immaculate High School
At MIHS we have found the app and iBeacon technology has transformed the way we teach in particular humanities. It has been superb for differentiation, students are engaged using the different beacons and accessing different levels of challenge.
We have found that students are making real improvements with literacy, they are able to access support to improve extended writing. Students feel that they have literacy in their pockets now and want to use the app and iBeacon in all subjects.
We have found it has been excellent for delivering large content at GCSE, students are able to access different information from different beacons at own pace, it allows SOLO taxonomy to work so easily. Students feel the technology is simple to use and like the way it looks, the reaction has been overwhelming.
Across all key stages it’s been amazing to see students are keen to work and learn with no distraction. They love the individuality the beacons provide and it has allowed more independent study to prosper successfully, something we have found a real challenge in the past.
From a teacher point of view the package created by aspire2b has allowed us to really change the way we teach, it allows students access to far more in lessons. It has endless possibilities and can cater for every need. For example we have us it for revision, differentiation, extension tasks, feedback, plenary, SOLO, cover work and general support. Overall the iBeacons and app has unlimited potential, I’m excited to see it prosper in the coming months, every day offers something else to enhance the learning at MIHS.
