In 2013, Director Simon Pridham decided to bring the Education and Business communities in Wales together after seeing the plight of a large number of young children in Delhi who were being educated under a bridge simply through the goodwill of a local shopkeeper. The response was excellent and with help from key individual teachers like Emma Howells Protheroe a fundraising campaign was launched. This was done under the name of Project Indicate.
Help and support
Fast forward two years to 2015 and Aspire 2Be have taken over this fundraising and together with the Worldwide Education Project (WWEP) have instigated major change at the site in Delhi. All pupils now have school uniform, school bags, shoes, stationery and improved conditions on the site.
Project Indicate – site improvements
Working closely with WWEP, Aspire 2Be have now helped ensure better drainage, toilet facilities, a levelled teaching area and smooth floor covering at the site. This is very important to ensure a safe learning area and also for sustainability purposes.
